MacOS Catalina Bizarre Photos App Finder Bug. No media was found.

I upload many photos to the internet every day using Apple's MacOS Catalina. When you first choose photos in the file chooser, the chooser is blank and there’s a single line of text: “No media was found”. Why is it that Apple is unable to access files on the computer faster? I use an SSD and all of my original photos are on my machine. As developers, we know processes can be difficult, but this is an odd bug that has lasted much longer than I would expect. Will if be fixed in MacOS 11 BigSur?
